In a late-night operation in Siliguri, the Special Task Force (STF) successfully apprehended a pickup van driver, Azizul Haq (46), with 175 kg of ganja. Haq, a resident of Cooch Behar, was intercepted near Bengal Safari under Bhakti Nagar police station during a vehicle search campaign.
Acting on secret information suggesting an attempt to smuggle marijuana into Bihar via Siliguri, the STF initiated the operation, resulting in the significant drug seizure. The estimated market value of the seizedmarijuana is approximately Rs 15 lakh. Following the operation, Haq was arrested under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, and subsequently, the STF handed over the accused to Bhakti Nagar police station for further legal action.
